Needed

*In charge of the Teche Life section of each paper as well as assisting in overall production of the paper.
*Writing experience required. Layout, InDesign experience helpful.
*Responsible for producing a minimum of 10 bylines each week. Staff reports do not count. Should be producing bylines and fresh content even on days the paper does not publish.
*The Teche Life stories focus on the people and the culture of Iberia Parish.
*Responsible for creating and maintaining the following pages and sections, but not limited to those listed here, food page, faith page, Chefs in the Teche, the Street Beat, Do You Remember, Back in Time, Handwritten Recipes.
*Sourcing and promoting unique and engaging content from the community.
*Writing curated newsletters at least three times a week. This original content is an extension of our publication that gives readers a more informal, conversational interaction with our company. It is also the best way to increase digital engagement - our number one priority.
*Layout
*Write kicker, headline, subheads, captions, pull quotes, jumps.
*Food section, divorces, Business page, syndicated columns, permits and other misc. Fills, births and marriage licenses, comics, opinion pages, etc.
*Producing stories in alternative format. This is one of our focuses to keep our stories fresh and engaging. It can range from Q&As to "5 things to know" style formats.
Managing local columnists. We have a large volume of local columnist who we rotate through the Sunday papers. It is the Teche Life Editor's responsibility to manage, schedule and frequently communicate with them.
*Web production. Each reporter is assigned a day to be responsible for the production of web stories. Even on non print days, we still have to create news.
