is seeking full-time Bee Farmworkers for work in St. Martin Parish, LA. Year-round duties include: working with bees in all stages, from the egg through fully developed workers, drones and queens; working in all aspects of commercial beekeeping, including accessing a colony to determine if it needs food or medicine; feeding and medicating bees, maintaining hives in a healthy state, increasing number of hives, raising and replacing queens, making divides; making, painting, and cleaning boxes. Worker must harvest/extract honey, as well as help run queen breeding yard and produce queen bees. Worker must manipulate and service the hives, and haul bees to and from different hive locations to ensure healthy and productive honeybee colonies. Worker must respond correctly to bees to harmonize with their natural cycle and keep them in the healthiest state possible for survival and profitability. Work involves working out in the fields. Worker must be able to be on feet or in bent positions for long periods of time as work requires repetitive movements and extensive walking and bending. Duties during off-season include, preparing supplies for following year, including boxes, pallets, Nucs; maintain bee health by feeding and application of pollen substitute. Additionally during the off-season, worker must perform general maintenance and service of the facility as well as the equipment. Travel between work sites in St. Martin, Lafayette, Iberia, Vermilion, and St. Mary Parishes in Louisiana. 6 months of previous experience as a Bee farmworker or similar occupation.
